An imposing half-feudal (13th-century keep), half-Renaissance building, listed as a Historic Monument, as is its park. A landmark of Provencal history, it was built by the Castellane family.
Originally built by the family de Castellane (1218-1718), was the family home of Varages (1718-1839) and family-Montclar Ripert (1839-1936). Nowadays, it is still inhabited. Your guide will explain the origin of the name of Germany, the various battles and sieges of the castle, plots and tragic duel that took place there, then how the castle has survived the Revolution. A fascinating story that takes you through the centuries. The architecture of the castle Imposing castle mid-feudal, semi-renaissance historical monument and park ranked ... The tower crowned with battlements dates from the XIIth century. It was then flanked by five defensive towers, connected by a curtain, and surrounded by moats. From 1495, François de Castellane attached to the elegant Renaissance wing and transform into a castle dungeon of residence. Inside, a remarkable spiral staircase connects the tower to the wing revival. At the second level, a sumptuous fireplace plasterwork of 1546, supported by two standing statues, adorns one of the rooms of the chateau. Visitors can enjoy indoors or outdoors, all the architectural details (French ceilings, mullioned windows, etc ...) and discover the footprints of the great centuries that marked the history of the Castle. The Castle is open to the public for tours: Easter to June 30 and September 15 to November 1 inclusive Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at 16 and 17 hours. From 1 July to 15 September all week at 16 pm and 17 pm, except Mondays. All year round, by appointment, for groups (minimum 15 people). Hours: by conveniences. Duration of tour: 1 hour. Rates: 6 Euros per person 4 Euros per person for groups over 15 persons
